The Skill I Never Thought I’d Learn

(Or Enjoy)

If you’d told me a year ago that I’d be learning about appointment setting and sales, I would have laughed. It’s just never been on my radar, I’m not pushy, I’m not salesy, and honestly, I always saw myself as someone who supports from behind the scenes.

But sometimes, the universe nudges you in unexpected directions.

I recently started a training programme in appointment setting, and what I thought would be all about "sales tactics" has actually turned into something completely different. It’s been about communication, presence, and confidence. It's taught me to slow down in conversation, to actually listen instead of rushing to respond. It's made me really think about the person on the other end of the messages or calls, and how what I say lands with them.

And the craziest part? I’ve actually enjoyed it.

I've thrown myself into the training, and within 10 days, I completed the assessment and even landed a new VA client on the signup call!! That felt like a sign. A quiet little whisper saying: this path you never expected… maybe it’s exactly where you're meant to be right now.

I’m still me: a helper, a connector, someone who finds joy in making other people’s lives easier. But this new skill? It’s given me a whole new layer to what I can offer. And if I’m honest, I’m kind of proud of that.
